Hurricane season will test disaster recovery plans as nearly half of healthcare facilities lack a comprehensive disaster recovery plan, according to an article on the HIT Infrastructure website.

In the wake of a hurricane, many healthcare organizations may be unable to EHRs and applications for weeks.

Specialty care facilities are especially behind with only 29 percent reporting that they have a comprehensive disaster recovery plan in place, according to a recent survey.

A comprehensive data recovery solution includes both backup and disaster recovery as well as frequent testing.
