Investigators searching for cause of fire in vacant building at Mass. hospital

An early-morning fire severely damaged a vacant building on the grounds of McLean Hospital in Belmont

An early-morning fire severely damaged a vacant building on the grounds of McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass., but no patients at the behavioral healthcare facility were affected, according to an article on the Boston Globe website.

The building was known as the Codman Building and was not in use.

“Since it was a closed building located in a remote area of the McLean campus, no evacuations were needed and no patient care services were disrupted,’’ a hospital spokesperson said in a statement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
