J+J Flooring Group Announces Newest Partnership with The Center for Health Design

The Center for Health Design today announced a new partnership with J+J Flooring Group, a leading manufacturer of commercial specified flooring.

The partnership includes the creation of a web-based toolbox dedicated specifically to the topic of Senior Living facility design. It will focus on two critical topics: Long Term Care Facilities and Aging in Place (Universal Design).

This is the first toolbox that will be free and open to all professionals and non-professionals alike. Typically a selected portion of toolboxes is free and open to the public, while Affiliate+ members have access to the complete toolbox.

The new Design for Aging Toolbox will be developed and released in phases. The complete toolbox will be released by April 1, 2017 and will remain available to the public through Dec. 31, 2017.  The Design for Aging Toolbox and all of its contents will be made available at the Center’s website: www.healthdesign.org

As people live longer, managing the needs of the aging population is more important than ever.  The Design for Aging Toolbox is aimed at helping facility designers and medical professionals understand and implement the best possible solutions to support the challenges the increase of the senior population brings to healthcare environments.

Key components for the Design for Aging Toolbox will include: a comprehensive issue brief, an executive summary, design strategies, case studies, expert interviews, lessons learned, an assessment and planning tool, and three webinars. A CEU course approved for AIA/EDAC credit will also be available.  Similar to existing Center toolboxes, the content will be newly-created and curated by Center staff, all with the goal of connecting the built environment to better health outcomes and reduced cost of care.

“We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with J+J for many years, but this new initiative takes our partnership to an even greater level,” said Debra Levin, EDAC, President and CEO, The Center for Health Design.  “J+J’s support is a catalyst for our toolbox expansion into the important area of Design for Aging. We know our members -- and now non-members alike -- will greatly benefit from the insights, research and tools this toolbox will provide.  We thank J+J for its support and passion to advance knowledge and best practices for senior living design.”

“At J+J, we like to think beyond our own products to see the bigger picture.  That’s why we’re extremely proud and excited about this partnership.  It’s our goal that designers, owners and operators who work in the long term care or Universal Design areas can use these resources for creating senior living environments that bring greater health outcomes,” said J+J Flooring Group Director of Applied Research Keith Gray.

J+J Flooring Group has extensively promoted the principals of evidence-based design and human-centered metrics through the creation of continuing education units, technical documents and product research.

J+J Flooring Group has been a dedicated partner with The Center since 2012, sponsoring events, including its annual Research Coalition meeting, and contributing to its mission by providing technical information and research findings.
