As the Internet of Things grows and healthcare IT and hackers are moving to the cloud, healthcare data risks will become more serious.

The following steps are among those that will help keep systems secure, according to an article on the Healthcare Data Management website.

Back up data. Even in the cloud, data should be backed up. Set up a structure to double-save data, and test the integrity and recoverability of the backups. 

Eliminate email phishing and re-evaluate internal communications. Implement safeguards to block internal emails that do not originate from internal IP addresses.
