Kingspan debuts Kooltherm K8 Cavity Board and Kooltherm K12 Framing Board at AIA Conference on Architecture 2017

When designing spaces today, architects are faced with increasingly strict energy codes requiring insulation that can often reduce the usable interior space of a building or home. With the new Kooltherm® K8 Cavity Board and Kooltherm® K12 Framing Board from Kingspan Insulation, architects now have an option that is engineered to take up considerably less space while delivering higher thermal performance and fire and smoke protection than other solutions currently on the market.

Already in widespread use in other parts of the world, Kooltherm® K8 Cavity Board and Kooltherm® K12 Framing Board will be shown for the first time in the U.S. at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2017. Attendees will see the full Kooltherm® line of products as well as the Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated HVAC ductwork system and GreenGuard products.

“Our technology allows us to deliver a rigid thermoset insulation with the highest R-value per inch,” said Alswinn Kieboom, managing director, Kingspan Insulation North America. “We want to make life easier for architects and builders by giving them a thinner product that outperforms the competition and allows them more freedom for their designs.”

Kingspan Kooltherm® K8 Cavity Board is a premium performance insulation, with a fiber–free rigid thermoset phenolic core, faced on both sides with a low emissivity composite foil facing which is used for insulation in partially filled cavity walls.

Kingspan Kooltherm® K12 Framing Board is a premium performance insulation, with a fiber–free rigid thermoset phenolic insulation core faced on both sides with a low emissivity composite foil facing which is used in wood or steel frame walls. It is resistant to the passage of water vapor, unaffected by air infiltration, and can be used between studs or as an insulating sheathing,

Both products feature a core of premium performance rigid thermoset fiber-free phenolic insulant manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
