Kooi named VP and General Manager of dancker

Nathan Kooi has been named Vice President and General Manager of integrated interior solutions firm dancker. Kooi will lead dancker’s offices in Baltimore and Capitol Heights, Maryland.

dancker recently announced the acquisition of the assets of furniture dealer U.S. Business Interiors (USBI), which formerly operated the Baltimore and Capitol Heights offices. The acquisition significantly expanded dancker’s presence into the Baltimore-Washington market, increasing its ability to serve clients in the region.

Prior to joining dancker, Kooi served as Regional Sales Manager for Steelcase, Inc., with responsibility for Steelcase sales in New York and New Jersey. With a portfolio which includes architectural, furniture, and technology products, Steelcase is renowned for delivering a better work environment to its customers by providing products, services, and insights into the ways people work and learn.

“Nathan is the ideal choice to lead our sales strategy in the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets,” says Steven Lang, dancker President & CEO. “With 13 years of experience in the contract office furniture industry, he has broad experience working with both public and private global institutions. Nathan is widely recognized for his ability to partner with clients and will ensure that dancker provides research and insights, as well as the applications and resources required to successfully deliver great experiences wherever work happens.”

Prior to joining Steelcase in 2007, Kooi worked with a Steelcase dealer. He served in various roles at Steelcase, including Business Development Manager in Florida and Dealer Business Manager in the Southeast, before being named Regional Sales Manager. He is a graduate of Calvin College and recently earned his Executive MBA from Columbia Business School.

In his new post, Kooi will work closely with dancker’s leadership team and alongside Kurt Weiss, formerly the President of USBI, to lead the sales efforts expanding dancker’s client base and overall presence in this new market. He will be assisted by an integration team from dancker that is currently on location in Capitol Heights, MD to ensure continuity in business practices and assimilation of company culture.

At nearly 200 years old, dancker creates effective and flexible environments for organizations that include several Fortune 100 companies. dancker is the only Northeastern company to be named Steelcase Premier Partner for five consecutive years and has strong relationships with over 400 manufacturers in the furniture, architectural products, and audiovisual industries, including partners like Steelcase, DIRTT, Maars Living Walls, Crestron, and Microsoft.
