Lawrence Group’s designers have delivered a pair of luxury skilled nursing facilities for Chicago-based Ignite Medical Resorts. Located in Batavia, IL and St. Peters, MO, the new “LuxeRehab” medical resorts combine cutting-edge physical rehabilitation with the indulgence of a 5-Star hotel.
Ignite Medical Resorts specializes in short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing conducted in a concierge-like environment. Services include clinical programming for orthopedics, stroke, cardiac and respiratory care. Ignite operates a total of 25 facilities across six states.
Lawrence Group was selected as the architect for the St. Peters and Batavia facilities, which were both completed in August 2025 at a cost of $18+ million each.
Ignite Medical Resort St. Peters, the first in the St. Louis Metro area, is located on a five-acre site, serving the greater St. Charles County area. The single-story, 60,000-square-foot facility features 69 private rooms and 12-semi-private rooms. Ignite Medical Resort Batavia is a single-story, 63,000-square-foot facility located in Batavia, IL with 78 units and a total of 96 beds.
Both facilities offer state-of-the-art, post-acute care therapy rooms deploying the latest technology in rehabilitation services, custom tailored to patients’ individual needs. Mock homes within each facility feature a full kitchen, laundry and bathroom where patients are taught and evaluated on readiness to return to independent living.
Both facilities are designed with multiple resort-style amenities including a Starbucks café, Glow Spa featuring massage therapy, hair services and nail salon; bistro lounges; dedicated concierge services; and on-site restaurants where chefs prepare gourmet meals.
Each facility also includes a chapel, comfortable lounges and outdoor covered rehabilitation areas to ensure a comprehensive and modern care experience. The buildings’ landscaped courtyards feature community gathering spaces with seating and fire pits, sidewalks and gravel paths to help rehab patients improve walking on uneven surfaces.
Complementing Ignite Medical Resorts’ upscale brand, the facades of both facilities feature blue and white veneer with stone skirting, white vinyl windows and hipped roofs. Their main entries convey that of a luxury resort with an inviting portico leading to a well-appointed lobby with couches, a reception desk and large windows.
Navigating a complex regulatory environment added challenges to both projects, which Lawrence Group’s experienced designers successfully resolved through strategic planning, ongoing coordination with multiple agencies, and adaptive design solutions to align with zoning, environmental, and permitting requirements—all while maintaining community trust and support.
Indianapolis-based Leo Brown Group, a full-service real estate development and solutions company focused on senior living, multifamily housing, and healthcare, was the developer on both projects. St. Louis-based Midas Building Group was the general contractor on the St. Peters project and Indianapolis-based Grand Contracting was the general contractor on the Batavia facility.
