Lenel OnGuard security management platform offers new mobile and web applications

Lenel, a leading provider of advanced, integrated systems, today announced the latest version of its OnGuard security management platform, with new performance enhancements and Web- and mobile-based applications for added control and convenience. Lenel is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

“We’ve maximized OnGuard’s powerful open-architecture design to include new features and performance that our value-added resellers (VARs) and users need to protect their facilities – from mid-sized organizations to globally dispersed operations,” said Ross McKay, director of product management, electronic access solutions, Lenel.

Add-on enhancements that are available in the latest release include OnGuard WATCH, a Web-based dashboard tool that presents users with comprehensive and actionable data about system performance; panel, reader, cardholder and visitor counts; alarms and error logs; and more. The intuitive graphical interface displays information so security and IT professionals can efficiently visualize critical information and take the appropriate actions. They can manage the system via computer or mobile device. OnGuard WATCH is highly configurable, allowing users to define areas within the application such as a building, floor or single office within a multi-tenant facility.

Also new to OnGuard is the optional Prism® Mobile app – which enables remote monitoring of live and recorded video via Apple® iPad®. Prism is Lenel’s open IP video management system based on an advanced, intuitive and operator-friendly user interface.

Other new OnGuard features include:

• A new hardware module that adds network-connected inputs and outputs to current Lenel intelligent system controllers or as a single-door network controller supporting one or two readers

• Enterprise updates of events and transactions

• Improved integrations with Interlogix® TruVision® digital video recorders and network video recorders

• Updated USB joystick support for controlling a wide range of operations

Lenel will also highlight two other applications expected for release later this year.

A visitor self-service mobile app, allows pre-authorized facility visitors to check in and out unassisted, sign necessary documents and optionally print a badge using an iPad tablet.

A cardholder self-service application will allow existing cardholders in an enterprise to request access to locations for which they lack authorization. The area supervisor or manager can access the Web-based app via computer or mobile device to view and act on requests. Future releases are expected to add more self-service functionality, resulting in quicker response to cardholder requests and reduced workload on managers.

Current and near-term OnGuard enhancements, as well as processing power, are enabled by a new board providing a significant boost in system memory. “We constantly enhance both the software and hardware of the OnGuard system to provide new levels of performance that can help future-proof a user’s investment,” McKay said.

OnGuard’s open-architecture design continues to benefit users through its seamless integration of a full suite of security management technologies. A strong video interface supports more than 350 third-party cameras and Lenel’s Open Access Alliance Program has more than 120 partners and 200 product interfaces.

The new version of OnGuard will be on display at ASIS 2015, Sept. 28-30 in Anaheim, California, and is available now through Lenel VARs throughout the Americas. For more information, visit www.lenel.com or follow @LenelSystems on Twitter.
