Aesthetic lighting can help attract patients and recruit and maintain medical staff, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Lighting helps regulate the rhythm of day and night; creates a visually appealing, emotionally relaxing atmosphere and guides pedestrian traffic through central areas in healthcare facilities.

When placing aesthetic lighting fixtures, it is important to avoid glare and reflections. Properly placed aesthetic lighting should not interfere with task lighting where work is being done.

It's also important to have a maintenance-free system. LED lamps and controllers, for instance, last for more than five years. LED dome lights and light sticks will perform for more than 50,000 hours, the article said.
