Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., the pediatric segment of Stanford University's healthcare system, is adding 521,000 square feet of space to its 1991-era complex, according to an article in the San Francisco Business Journal.
The expansion will almost double the facility's current size.
The project, which began in 2012, is expected to be complete by the end of 2016, according to CEO Christopher Dawes.
When the facility is complete, it will add about 75 beds to the current on-campus total of 257. Lucile Packard is licensed to increase the total beds on the main campus to up to 361.
