A 21-year-old man has died after falling off the roof of OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
The man has been identified as Joseph Croegaert, according to Journal Star. He was brought to the healthcare facility for an undisclosed medical condition. Before receiving treatment, he gained access to the secured roof area over the ambulance bay. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
It is unclear how Croegaert gained access to the secured roof area. The fall remains under investigation.
“We have never had anyone gain access to this secured area and will be working closely with our facilities team to address how access was gained and what can be done to prevent any further such situations,” according to Shelli Dankoff, an OFS spokeswoman.
