Mayo Clinic Hospital Has Salad-Making Robots

Fresh Food Robots program may be future of food service

Employees and visitors at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minn., are getting fresh salads made by a robot, according to an article on the Food Management  website.

The four Fresh Food Robots are particularly popular with late-night workers and those missing the retail café’s salad bar, the article said.

Another pandemic-spurred food service project, according to a Food Management slide show, is a live-streaming video series that  offers residents at Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina at Summerville a virtual cooking demo experience starring the Cura Hospitality chef who oversees dining at their campus.

A recent survey from Food Management  showed that 45 percent of healthcare foodservice operators are “cautiously optimistic; expect our operation to come through this stronger than ever.” The largest group, 55 percent of healthcare operators, are “worried, but fairly confident our operation will get through this in one piece.”
