Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital announced a $277.5 million expansion project, approved by the Memorial Hermann Health System Board, that will add 58 beds and 347,000 square feet of new and renovated service areas to the campus by 2027.  This is the third expansion project in the hospital’s seven-year history.

The centerpiece of the expansion is the new North Tower, a brand-new six-story patient tower that can expand to eight floors for future growth.  Upon opening, the new North Tower will bring TIRR Memorial Hermann to the community with 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds and a rehabilitation gym. Additionally, the tower will add 40 universal beds, bringing the hospital’s total bed count to 201.  A new dialysis suite and the campus’ kitchen and café will also be housed in the North Tower.

The project also includes the significant expansion of the hospital’s emergency center, increasing the bed count from 27 to 40 with eight dedicated pediatric rooms and four trauma rooms.  Additionally, it will add four operating rooms, bringing the total to 10 Operating Rooms with shell space to add up to six more. The project will also include an additional cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology suite. Labor & Delivery will get a new C-section suite and six neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds, and the OB Emergency Center will grow from three to five beds.

The main tower will also undergo renovations to allow for ancillary department growth, including sterile processing, pharmacy, lab, materials management, respiratory therapy and more.  In addition, the Memorial Hermann Life Flight helipad will be relocated to the roof of the hospital’s main tower.

This project comes on the heels of several areas of growth at the hospital.  Within the past few years, the campus has added 62 inpatient beds, a second professional office building, a parking garage and Memorial Hermann Sports Park - Cypress in collaboration with Athlete Training and Health (ATH) and affiliated orthopedic specialists.
