Michigan hospital renovation project focusing on safety

The priority throughout the project is the safety of the hospital’s patients and staff

The renovation and expansion of McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey is focusing on the safety of the hospital’s patients and staff, along with minimizing disruptions to patients’ experiences, according to an article on the Petoskey News website.

As the hospital changes the footprint or routes in which people have to travel, it educates staff for their safety and so they can be resources for the patients.

So far, there’s been minimal disruption and all services and departments will remain functional throughout the renovation process.

“When we move into the main tower or new wing, that’s when the heavy lifting will take place as far as movement, and we’re just in the beginning phases of how to stage those moves right now,” Schult said. “There’s a lot of work to be done as far as actualizing those stages and moves,” said Shari Schult, vice president of operations.
