Missouri hospital ordered to stop performing surgery

Regulators conducted an inspection at Pinnacle Regional Hospital and cited it for sterile processing procedures

Missouri health regulators have told a Boonville, Mo., hospital that specializes in bariatric surgery to discontinue performing surgery, according to an article on the KCUR 89.3 website.

Regulators conducted an inspection at Pinnacle Regional Hospital and cited it for sterile processing procedures.

In order to resume performing that surgery, the facility will need to comply with the state’s directive to upgrade its sterile processing department – work that will involve architects and engineers and could take months.

“The plan is to make the appropriate repairs in a timely fashion so we can get the (operating rooms) back up and running as quickly as possible,” according to a hospital official.
