Monki Strikes Gold with its Flowcrete Floor

Flowcrete has worked with the innovative fashion designer Monki to provide flooring for its Hong Kong store that would convey the brand’s colourful, vibrant and youthful image.

The fashion label’s interior designer chose two tailor-made styles for the store, a glittering gold and a sleek, dappled silver and black. The stylised flooring systems were applied next to each other across the retail outlet’s floor to create contrasting blocks of colour.

Curving lines were used to separate the colours, creating not only an interesting aesthetic effect but also serving the practical purpose of marking out different areas of the store. The glossy, light and dark patterned silver coating was installed in the entrance and changing room areas while the majority of the shop floor itself was coated in a solid swathe of the dazzling gold.

200m2 of the smooth and sparkling epoxy resin floor finish Flowflake Kristalina from Flowcrete Hong Kong was used to achieve both of these custom colours.

This system was specified thanks to its aesthetics, versatile design potential and its ability to provide the functionality required within a busy commercial environment.

200m2 of the fast-drying floor screed Isocrete 1500 was also installed during the project to provide a hardwearing underlayment for the resin floor finish.

This design created a luxurious aesthetic that would serve as the ideal backdrop for Monki’s eclectic and lively line of high-end fashion. The bespoke look and attention to detail would reinforce the store’s identity for existing customers while ensuring that new customers leave with a great first impression.

The seamlessness of the decorative epoxy system Flowflake Kristalina means that it can be quickly and easily cleaned to keep the floor area looking its best. Flowflake Kristalina’s hardwearing nature also avoids scratches, scuffs and stains so that the floor retains an unblemished and attractive appearance for the long term, despite the inevitable heavy foot traffic, impacts and spillages that it will face.

The entire flooring project took only five days to complete. It was critical that the tight installation deadline was met, as the high rental rates and the fact that other trades had to be accommodated meant that no aspect of the store fit-out could overrun. Thanks to the applicability of the products and the expertise of Flowcrete Hong Kong’s approved applicator, the floor was ready on time for the unveiling of Monki’s new store.
