More than 350 staffers at Rapid City Regional Health in Rapid City, S.D., slept on cots at the hospital to maintain staffing during a March blizzard, according to an article on the KOTA TV website.

The facility estimated that about once a year it has to prepare for a similar emergency situation.

March 13 was the first time this winter they needed this plan.
