N.Y. hospital ED earns LEED Gold

Northwell Health’s Huntington Hospital emergency department focuses on water use reduction


The emergency department of Northwell Health’s Huntington Hospital in Huntington N.Y., has achieved LEED Gold certification, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

The design focuses on extensive water use reduction, strong energy performance, enhanced commissioning, low-emitting materials and construction waste management. 

Collectively, these measures helped the project earn enough points for gold certification.

The hospital expanded its ED to support a growing need for services. The resulting space doubles its predecessor in size.
