NFMT event to include seminar on ADA review for healthcare facilities

The 2017 National Facilities Management & Technology event offers three full days of education, speakers, networking with peers, and a giant expo hall. All for free.

This year's National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) event will include a seminar on ADA review for healthcare facilities.

Ensuring ADA compliance in every facility is crucial. Healthcare facilities tend to interact with people with disabilities on a more frequent basis, making it essential that they go above and beyond what the civil rights law outlines. Join Joan Stein who has more than 25 years experience as an ADA consultant as she outlines the key considerations any healthcare facility should take into account to make sure their facilities are accessible to all.

Learning objectives include:

1. Clarify how the ADA is enforced both by the Justice Department and the federal courts and recent changes in enforcement and fines

2. Define the difference between building codes and the ADA as a civil rights law

3. Understand how healthcare facilities differ in terms of accessible elements and key considerations that should be implemented*

4. Name practical tips and guidance on what to do when a complaint is filed against you/your organization*

* Stein is not an attorney and the tips and guidance provided in this session cannot be construed to be legal advice.

The session, scheduled for March 8 at 3:10 p.m. (EST), will be given by Joan W. Stein, President of Stein Consulting LLC.

The event will be held in Baltimore on March 7-9, 2017.

Check out the NFMT website for more information.
