NFPA offers a risk assessment checklist for active shooter situations

Guidance includes tips on information officials should be gathering during building risk assessments


The National Fire Protection Agency’s active shooter guidance gives 21 facility characteristics of that officials should monitor in any building risk assessment checklist, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

The NFPA guidance includes details on the process of preparing for and responding to active attacker situations.

One of the first chapters discusses identifying areas where an active shooter could cause damage, disruptions, injuries or death.

The guidance states that building risk assessments should include consideration of the probability of attack and the consequences of such an attack at each location, the article said.
