N.Y. healthcare facility to save $14.5 million with retrofit

Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira makes infrastructure improvements and equipment upgrades


An energy efficiency retrofit completed at Arnot Ogden Medical Center (AOMC) in Elmira, New York, will deliver nearly $9 million in energy and operational savings over the next 20 years and save the 256-bed facility an estimated $14.5 million in energy and operating costs over the life of the contract, according to an article on the Energy Manager website.

The effort packaged infrastructure improvements, equipment upgrades, implementation and ongoing maintenance costs into a single turnkey project.

Upgrades included:

• New energy efficient boilers and chillers were installed

• The outdated manual energy management system was replaced with a new automated, web-based system 

• Building envelope repairs were performed, including weather stripping, window caulking and duct work
