N.Y. hospital renovation following industry trends

The emphasis is on private rooms for better infection control, more privacy, better patient sleep

The renovation project at Arnot Ogden Medical Center will follow industry trends with an emphasis on private rooms for better infection control, more privacy and better patient sleep, according to an article on the StarGazette website.

The Elmira hospital’s $16 million project adds twice as many beds as it had when the healthcare facility first opened in 1888.

About 90 percent of Arnot’s patient rooms will be private, with the completion of a new fifth floor and renovation of the fourth floor.

Studies also have shown that infection control, more privacy and better sleep are among the benefits of private patient rooms, which are becoming the standard for hospital renovations as well as new hospital construction.
