Spectrum Health's new $25 million rehab and nursing center in Grand Rapids, Mich., will be a two-story, 116,000-square-foot building with more private rooms and a more homelike setting, according to an article on the MLive website.
The main floor would serve patients with brain injuries, strokes and orthopedic and cardiac conditions. The second floor will serve patients in long-term care.
The current one-story, 86,000-square-foot facility has three- and four-bed wards, cinderblock walls and dated fixtures and furnishings, according to an application with the state Certificate of Need commission.
The proposed replacement facility would include 75 private rooms for short-term rehab patients and 45 private and semi-private rooms for long-term care residents.
