A new $35 million microhospital is under construction in Lancaster


A new $35 million microhospital under construction in Lancaster, Pa., may be the future of healthcare, according to an article on the Pittsburgh Press Gazette website.

The for-profit Clio Health could change healthcare in the way Netflix streaming movies and TV shows changed Blockbuster Video, the article said.

The healthcare facility will have four operating rooms — and space to add two more.

The surgical services are among the most lucrative for community hospitals, where revenue generated from higher-margin service lines such as cardiology is often funneled to mental health services and staffing primary care doctors’ offices.
