New York state has revealed that it had found Candida auris in 64 hospitals and 103 nursing homes, according to an article on the New York Times website.
New York is the first state to release the names of the medical facilities that have treated patients with the fungus.
The state health officials said they decided to break with practice and disclose the names of the institutions with cases in the state over the past three years because of how rapidly C. auris has spread, according to the article.
The state found that the heaviest concentration of C. auris patients was in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
