A new line of laptops, displays and all-in-one desktops has been designed by HP to be resistant to the intense cleaning chemical used by those who work in healthcare facilities, according to an article on The Verge website.
The laptop allows the user to disable the keyboard and touchscreen while cleaning, so that no information is accidentally entered.
All three products are built to withstand deterioration from being cleaned with germicidal wipes, which may help reduce the spread of healthcare-related infections.
Other features designed specifically for healthcare workers include: a touchpad that recognizes touch from people wearing surgical gloves; RFID readers in the notebook, desktop, and display that allow workers to sign in by tapping their work badges on the touchpad; and a fingerprint reader on the notebook.
The notebook is scheduled to be released in May, while the display and desktop are expected in June.
