Nonclinical staff should consider the myriad ways they can help to improve patient outcomes


Those who manage and care for a health facility's physical environment should consider the myriad ways they can help to improve patient outcomes, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Non-clinical roles have changed with new regulations and a shifting focus that views patients as consumers.

In the Health facilities Management 2015 Salary Survey, 55 percent of respondents said their incentive compensation was tied to performance initiatives and outcomes.

"Outcomes, whether clinical quality or satisfaction, need to be ingrained into the culture of the entire environmental services department to draw the incentive compensation," Patti Costello, executive director of the Association for the Healthcare Environment, said in the article.
