A mental health patient wearing a business shirt, jeans and a hoodie followed a nurse from a hospital parking lot and signed himself in as a doctor at the Robina Hospital in Queenland, Australia, according to an article on the Gold Coast Bulletin website.
Nurses at the hospital said they fear there will be a rape or murder before the hospital employs security guards to conduct regular patrols of nearby parking lots at night.
Staff concerns about security heightened in the wake of a report late last month of the arrest of a man who allegedly entered the Ipswich general hospital armed with a knife and sexually assaulted a female staffer.
Coast hospital sources allege the Robina female staffer was cautioned by a manager not to escalate the “fake doctor” incident by reporting it to police.
