The Heartland Behavioral Healthcare behavioral health facility in Massillon, Ohio, is reviewing its security policy after two employees were assaulted, according to an article on the Indie Online website.
Two court-ordered patients at the facility then escaped the facility by stealing an employee's car.
Two-thirds of Heartland's 134 beds are filled by forensic patients who have been ordered by a criminal court to stay in the facility.
A hospital official said the facility's recovery-oriented environment is constructed to provide safety and security for patients. For instance the plumbing, furniture and other fixtures are built to minimize the ability of someone to hurt themselves on the equipment.
