The Lakeridge Health Port Perry hospital has been recognized as an Energy Conservation Champion by Veridian Connections following a series of environmental upgrades by Lakeridge Health, according to an article on the Durhamregion.com website.
The work at Lakeridge Health Port Perry is a part of the hospital system’s Energy Retrofit Project which includes its four hospital sites.
Upgrades at the Port Perry site include solar panels that now produce green energy; updated lighting, including LED exterior lighting; a new control panel to better manage equipment efficiencies; and a new, eco-friendly air conditioner.
Lakeridge Health’s retrofit project is composed of 29 energy conservation measures that are expected to cut energy costs by 23 percent, saving $46 million over the 20-year life of the project.
