Pandemic’s impact on on-site dining at healthcare facilities

Dining programs could see a continued slump in retail dining


New visitor restrictions have had a negative impact on healthcare facilities foodservice departments and their retail dining revenues, according to an article on the Food Management  website.

Plus, fewer patients mean fewer patient meals. That could change, at least for awhile,  when postponed elective and non-critical cases hits hospitals.

Patient dining services may have to get back up to speed fairly quickly while retail dining may continue to be limited depending on if and how visitor policies are relaxed.

Some hospitals may begin to allow visitors again, but may bar them from the cafeteria to limit possible spread of germs to staff.
