Paris hospitals are experiencing increased strain as more than 40 percent of patients hospitalized in Paris intensive care units have Covid-19, according to an article on The New York Times website.
More than 2,300 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized in Ile-de-France, the the country’s most popular region, which includes Paris.
Nearly 450 of them are in intensive care, and some hospitals have started to defer surgeries to make additional room.
An Ile-de-France official warned that Covid-19 patients could take up half of all intensive care units within the next 10 to 15 days if new restrictions put in place over the past week did not make an impact.
At the same time, Physicians and leaders at many U.S. hospitals say they are feeling better prepared to respond to a potential second wave of COVID-19 cases, according to an article. on the Becker’s Hospital Review website. Healthcare leaders said they have a better sense of which treatments and supplies are needed and are stockpiling them.
