Certain policies and procedures can make a big impact on healthcare facility violence prevention efforts — without adding security, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

The Joint Commission suggests several policies and initiatives hospitals can adopt to improve the safety of their work environments, including:

• Capturing, tracking and trending all reports of workplace violence in healthcare including verbal abuse and attempted assaults

• Provide appropriate follow up and support to witnesses and others affected by workplace violence
