A number of surgical procedures have been postponed at Mayo University Hospital in County Mayo, Ireland, due to a problem with a water pump, according to an article on the Midwest Radio website.

A affected water pump in the sterilization facility for surgical instruments has led to the deferral of some non-urgent surgeries.

Hospital management say they prioritized emergency procedures, but a number of non-urgent surgeries were postponed.

The repairs depended on the completion of re-commissioning the washers and sterilizers to ensure standards are met.
