Providence Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Named One of '2019-’20 Best Nursing Homes for Short-Term Rehabilitation'

Completion of a $3 million renovation at Providence Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, a Marquis Health Services member in Yeadon, new specialty programming and recognition by U.S. News & World Report as one of “2019-’20 Best Nursing Homes for Short-Term Rehabilitation” reflect the quality care and services now being offered at the 129-bed skilled nursing facility. Located at 600 South Wycombe Ave. on the campus of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Providence provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

U.S. News & World Report is known as a global leader in “quality rankings that empower people to make better, more informed decisions about important issues affecting their lives.” According to the publication, more than 40 million people visit USNews.com each month.

Marquis Health Services launched its renovation immediately following its acquisition of Providence Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in 2018. The physical improvements have further modernized the two-story, 52,000-square-foot facility. Work included extensive upgrades to the lobby, common areas, and private and semi-private patient rooms, as well as the rehab therapy gym. The updated gym features state-of-the-art equipment – such as a smart car to help patients simulate actual daily living skills during the rehabilitation process.

“Our renovation and program expansion at Providence exemplify our philosophy of delivering superior-quality care and service in a modern, home-like environment to enable the very best outcomes for patients,” said Marquis’ Norman Rokeach, chief executive officer. “Recognition by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top nursing homes for short-term rehab is a direct reflection of that commitment, and we are very pleased to receive this honor.”

Program Enhancements: Bedside Hemodialysis and Cardio Pulmonary Care

Providence in September introduced a staff-assisted bedside hemodialysis program in partnership with Compass Home Dialysis. Designed to improve patient quality of life while significantly reducing hospital readmissions, the new program enables residents with end-stage renal disease to receive treatment at the skilled nursing facility, no longer needing to travel to dialysis clinics.

Enhanced specialty programming at Providence also includes a physician-led Cardio Pulmonary Care Program. The offering focuses on promoting independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart and lung patients, while increasing their participation in physical and social activities.

Providence Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center maintains a four-star rating from CMS, with a five-star rating for quality measures. Marquis Health Services, the healthcare affiliate of Tryko Partners, LLC, is a recognized leader in providing subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. The company operates nearly 3,000 beds at 29 Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities.
