Psychiatric hospital fined $650K for failure to protect workers

The hospital does not have proper risk assessments, policies or training on preventing violence


The Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in British Columbia has been fined nearly $650,000 for failing to protect the safety of its employees, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.

The hospital has been fined by WorkSafeBC, an agency that works to improve health and safety in the workplace.

The fine was levied because hospital does not have proper risk assessments, policies or training on preventing violence. 

The penalty follows incidents last year when nurses were attacked by patients.
