Report finds VA concealed Legionella at facility

Inspectors also found the facility’s staff routinely failed to conduct routine cleaning


A new report from VA OIG confirmed allegations that VA executives concealed a Legionella outbreak at a VA medical center, according to an article on the Disabled Veterans website.

Whistleblowers concerned for the safety of veterans finally exposed the cover-up to the Southern California News Group. Two doctors and six nurses exposed the potentially deadly scandal about Legionella in the Jerry L Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center.

Inspectors found officials at the Jerry L Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif., withheld positive test results from employees.

Inspectors also found the facility’s staff routinely failed to conduct routine cleaning.
