Report offers tips for increasing healthcare market share with new locations
A recent report offers advice to healthcare providers seeking to expand services outside the hospital campus.

The healthcare market will face some new challenges in patient care delivery under the Affordable Care Act, and as a result, many healthcare providers are looking for more cost-effective delivery models, including decentralized locations.
In a recent report, CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate, offers advice to healthcare providers seeking to expand services outside the hospital campus.
“Ten tips for healthcare providers under the Affordable Care Act,” suggests that healthcare providers should focus their attention on ambulatory settings and “think like retailers,” analyzing where there are gaps in the services offered in a community — and then filling them.
The report also highlights the importance of understanding competition in the marketplace. It notes that traditional healthcare providers are not only competing with other traditional health care providers, but also with emerging urgent care clinics and services within major retailers, such as The Clinic at Walmart and CVS’ Minute Clinic.
