SEIU Healthcare Minnesota's 500 food service workers in Rochester and Albert Lea have approved the first of two votes required to accept a Mayo Clinic compromise over its plans to outsource its food service, according to an article on the Post Bulletin website.
"We're pleased with the outcome of the food service vote, and await the results of the SEIU bargaining unit vote later this week," Mayo said in a written statement.
A second vote is required because of language tweaking seniority terms impacting all 2,000 members, the article said.
The proposal would allow food service staff to claim "super seniority" while considering jobs that would return them to Mayo during the first four months of the transition to Morrison Healthcare.
