As of Sept. 24, the Ebola outbreak in Congo has killed 101 people amid rising safety concerns for health workers, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership & Infection Control website.
There have been a growing number of attacks by armed groups in the Congo's North Kivu province, which hinder health workers' efforts to investigate and treat Ebola cases.
On Sept. 22, the World Health Organization halted response efforts for two days after an attack killed 21 people.
Combined with community resistance and the disease's broad geographic spread, the attacks could cause the outbreak to spread.
