As storm season approaches, Sarasota Memorial Hospital has protocols in place to protect patients, according to an article on the My Suncoast website.
"Once Sarasota County activates their emergency operation center, our hospital follows suit and we will activate our internal command," said the hospitals Chief of Public Safety, Mickey Watson.
The hospitals windows are hardened to withstand the impact of up to a category three hurricane.
The hospital's garage houses hurricane supplies including pillows, blankets, cots, durable medical supplies.
