Second outbreak of adenovirus reported in N.J.

The second outbreak is believed to be of a milder type than the one responsible for the deaths of 10 children in Wanaque

A second outbreak of adenovirus has been reported at a long-term care facility for medically fragile children in Vorhees, N.J., according to an article on the northjersey.com website.

The second outbreak is believed to be of a milder type than the one responsible for the deaths of 10 children in Wanaque.

The two facilities are among four in New Jersey that care for children with severe disabilities who depend on ventilators to breathe.

Four children have been diagnosed with the virus at the Voorhees Pediatric Facility. All have mild forms of the illness, and preliminary lab tests have ruled out adenovirus Type 7, which was identified in the Wanaque outbreak.
