A security guard at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster (S.C.) was arrested for sexually assaulting a patient while she slept, accordin to an article on the Campus Safety website.
The guard was charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. According to the patient, she was woken up by the guard touching her inappropriately.
The guard was contracted to work at the hospital through a private security company, Allied Universal. The site supervisor at Allied Universal was also fired for not following proper company protocols.
“The safety of our patients is our highest responsibility,” said Page Vaughan, Spring Memorial Hospital CEO. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation. And they will be your best source for information.”
