Senior care facility upgraded to improve living experience

Illinois facility looking to recruit new residents while retaining current clients

The Pleasant View, a continuing care retirement community in Ottawa, Ill., recently undertook a renovation and new construction project to improve the living experience for continuing residents while attracting newcomers, according to an article on the Today's Facility Manager website.

The goal was to maintain continuity of care while adding assistive living options. Safety was a major consideration during the project, according to Chris Sherman, Pleasant View’s facilities director.

“Maintaining egress and following all required standards was a challenge that required constant communication with all parties involved to assure strategies planned were clear and safety a priority.”

One of the first phases was the renovation of the Health Care Pavilion. Improvements included mechanical and electrical system replacements along with building envelope replacements.
