Skyline Medical announces upgraded version of its flagship technology, the STREAMWAY System

By Healthcare Facilities Today

MINNEAPOLIS - Skyline Medical Inc. (OTCQB: SKLN), formerly BioDrain Medical, producer of the FDA-approved STREAMWAY System for automated, direct-to-drain surgical fluid disposal, today announced that it has made innovative enhancements of its flagship product, improving upon an already superior technology.

"The STREAMWAY System was already the most advanced fluid management disposal system on the market, especially in light of a major competitor's products being recalled due to safety issues last year. Now, with improvements that boost both safety and performance, we can offer the healthcare system a product that allows them to have all the safety factors they deserve for both their staff and patients," said Josh Kornberg, Chief Executive Officer of Skyline Medical. "We know that safety is of the utmost importance to healthcare professionals, which is why it was the focal point in the innovative improvements we have made to the STREAMWAY System."

The enhanced version of the STREAMWAY System is designed to be even more intuitive including a colored touchscreen, step by step menu controls, an easy-to-navigate digital color operator control panel and back-ups for additional storage. The unit will feature a simplified cleaning process and a smaller footprint where it is installed, all helping personnel streamline the fluid waste disposal process in a safe, efficient manner.

"The first generation of our STREAMWAY System performed incredibly well -- we saw 100 percent conversion rate from trials to installations in 2013 -- and filled a real need in the market," continued Kornberg. "Safety is an area we take very seriously. The STREAMWAY System is a unique technology that addresses the numerous safety issues stemming from traditional canister or closed cart system use."

Kornberg concluded, "As a company, we are constantly evolving and looking to improve our offering to provide our customers with best-in-class products that are cost effective, safe and eco-friendly, which is why we made these improvements to the STREAMWAY System. This improved version is poised to become the go-to choice for fluid waste management in hospitals, surgical centers and operating rooms throughout the United States. The last two quarters we received numerous purchase orders from major hospitals and ASCs around the U.S., with these upgrades, we are now ready to fulfill these orders and further penetrate this market."

The FDA-approved STREAMWAY System is designed to improve safety and efficiency in the operating room by safely and seamlessly managing surgical fluid waste disposal with its direct-to-drain technology. The STREAMWAY System virtually eliminates certain operating room workers' exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and other potentially infectious fluids found in the surgical environment while dramatically decreasing costs to dispose of surgical waste. The STREAMWAY System is designed to be installed into each surgical room and connected directly into a hospital's existing drain and vacuum system.

About Skyline Medical Inc.

Skyline Medical Inc. produces a fully automated, patented, FDA cleared, surgical fluid disposal system that virtually eliminates operating room workers' exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and other potentially infectious fluids found in the surgical environment. Today's manual surgical fluid handling methods of hand-carrying filled surgical fluid canisters and emptying these canisters is an exposure risk and is not an optimal approach to the handling of surgical fluid waste. Skyline Medical's STREAMWAY System fully automates the collection, measurement and disposal of surgical fluids and is designed to result in: 1) reducing overhead costs to hospitals and surgical centers, 2) improving Occupational State and Health Association (OSHA) and other regulatory compliance agencies' safety concerns, and 3) streamlining the efficiency of the operating room (and thereby making surgeries more profitable).

Skyline Medical's STREAMWAY System is eco-friendly as it contributes to cleaning up the environment. Currently, approximately 50 million bloody, potentially disease infected canisters go to landfills annually in the United States. These tainted canisters can remain in landfills for years to come. With the installation of Skyline Medical's STREAMWAY System, the number of canisters can be significantly reduced. Skyline Medical Inc.'s STREAMWAY System is designed to make the operating room and our environment safer, cleaner, and better. Skyline Medical products are currently being represented by independent professional sales representatives that cater to the needs of hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers across the country.
