Sloan Launches MasterSpec and AutoDesk SEEK Initiatives to better meet the needs of architects, engineers and designers

Sloan, the leader in commercial plumbing systems, has launched two new initiatives to give architects, engineers and design professionals access to product information that will make it easier to specify Sloan products in new and retrofit projects.

Sloan Promotes Products in MasterSpec®

Sloan has partnered with ARCOM, the leader in building specification services and tools, to promote Sloan products to architects, engineers and design professionals through MasterSpec, the ultimate software resource for producing specifications.

ARCOM carefully reviews each manufacturer and its products to ensure they meet the quality criteria for which MasterSpec is known. MasterSpec, a product of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), has become the most trusted and comprehensive specification system in the building industry. ARCOM provides manufacturer and product information for thousands of products. Product specifiers can quickly access a list of building product manufacturers organized by sections. ARCOM’s team of professional spec writers have worked with Sloan to modify original MasterSpec sections to include content applicable to Sloan products.

“Sloan’s partnership with ARCOM is our latest effort to provide architects, interior designers and engineers with the most comprehensive—and easy to specify—commercial plumbing offering,” said Sloan Vice President of Marketing Parthiv Amin. “MasterSpec will enable specifiers to quickly build specifications using Sloan products, saving them time versus having to research manufactures’ websites for the information.”

The MasterSpec platform is used by 85 percent of the top architectural and engineering firms in the country. This partnership with ARCOM, coupled with the fact that Sloan recently launched a new website www.sloan.com, and has recently introduced several new AIA, LEED, IDCEC and ASPE Continuing Education courses, shows Sloan’s commitment to working collaboratively with architectural, engineering and design firms.

“We’re committed to providing the architect and product specifiers as much information as they need about our products,” added Amin. “Even more importantly, by collaborating with ARCOM and the AIA, we are strengthening our position as the go-to resource on designing and specifying smart, sustainable products for the commercial washroom.”

Sloan Launches Content on Autodesk® SEEK

Sloan also has introduced a comprehensive list of product content on Autodesk SEEK, a software package for architects, designers and specifiers. Autodesk, Inc., is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software with more than 2 million registered users worldwide.

The Autodesk SEEK web service enables architects, engineers and other design professionals to quickly discover, preview and download branded and generic building information modeling (BIM) files, CAD and product specifications for their active design sessions in AutoDesk Revit® or AutoCAD® software.

“Our Autodesk SEEK sponsorship is part of Sloan’s efforts to speak directly to architects, engineers and designers at the earliest stages of their design and specification processes,” Amin said.  “Sloan wants to be the basis of commercial restroom design and this resource should go a long way in helping us.”

Users can access product design information, including two-dimensional CAD or three-dimensional Revit models, to enhance designs and obtain product information as it relates to dimensional data, finishes, flow rates, activation type and more.

Sloan offers high-quality BIM models that meet the current standards of Autodesk Revit’s style guide. This allows for any Sloan BIM model to be automatically generated in the project schedule, saving time for the architect, designer or specifier, as well as ensuing accuracy in the design.

To access the files, an Autodesk subscriber using the design platform utilizes SEEK as a library of content to design their building by downloading the content from SEEK directly into their project file.
