Software calculates long-term costs of green products

Practice Greenhealth unveils sustainability tool

Practice Greenhealth recently introduced a new software tool to help hospitals evaluate the long-term costs of green products, according to  costs compared with other market choices, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The Greenhealth Cost of Ownership Calculator was designed for the healthcare sector to help healthcare facilities evaluate the costs of products and equipment beyond the purchase price.

The free calculator also can analyze the cost of maintenance, water usage, energy and disposal.

“It has sometimes been difficult to understand how the products that we use everyday in our hospitals and clinics impact the environment or affect our bottom line working for or against our mission,” Andy Madden, senior director of supply chain, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, said in the article.
