World Health Organization offers first-ever priority pathogens list


Healthcare facilities need environmental infection control strategies that can address a range of pathogens, according to an article on the Health Facilities Maintenance website.

The World Health Organization published a priority pathogens list including the 12 most dangerous families of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Environmental services departments are urged to refer to include this list in their planning when developing a disinfection program.

However, there is not complete agreement on which pathogens made the list and how they were ranked.
