Spellman Brady Energizes Oklahoma Senior Living Community

Spellman Brady & Company, an award-winning interior design firm, completed the extensive interior renovation of The Touchmark at Coffee Creek Retirement Community in Edmond, Oklahoma, part of a master-planned community just north of Oklahoma City.  Spellman Brady remodeled 45,375 square feet of independent and assisted living interiors along with the procurement of the project’s furniture, accessories, and artwork.

Originally built over 15 years ago, Touchmark understood the need to rejuvenate the spaces at Coffee Creek and tasked Spellman Brady to update the common areas, as well as transform the basement into a vibrant Health and Fitness Club.  Spellman Brady reinvigorated the spaces using hospitality-influenced, transitional-style furniture and rich woods to complement the lush, colorful fabrics.  The warm lighting helped frame the spaces and highlight the art.  The carefully selected artwork built upon local and regional influences.  Native American themes and patterns, as well as regional flora and fauna, were specifically selected along with some framed Native American artifacts, stained glass feathers encased in glass, and dip-dyed fiber art.

The renovation included the independent & assisted living common areas.  The administration offices, main lobby, and reception area along with two new, reimaged spaces for dining and socializing were created; Thunder Alley Pub, a comfortable lounge with draft beers and flat screens and Charley’s, a casual grab-and-go for all-day snacking and lighter meals.  In addition, the Grand Hall was redesigned to accommodate multi-purpose activities like Wii games, invited speakers and other gatherings.  Taking the needs of these activities into account, Spellman Brady added acoustical panels to manage the sound reverberation.

Spellman Brady reimaged a dungeonous basement into a bustling Health and Fitness Club by bringing low glare LED lights with floor-length mirrors; energy-absorbing, high-impact flooring; and acoustic baffles to combat noise levels common to exercise along with sprinkle in bursts of color.  The creation of the Health and Fitness Club pulled the local Edmond population in for fitness membership, which increased community engagement and supported a healthier lifestyle for all residents.
