Standby systems for hospital campuses

Hospitals and data centers have difficult requirements for electrical systems

Hospital electrical systems are complex and have to run 24/7. Failure can mean loss of life or millions of dollars in lost productivity or revenue, according to a webcast on YouTube by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine.

In the webcast, design engineers present two case studies of standby-system design, one on a hospital campus renovation following a flood, and the other on a new spec data center.

Case study 1: Flood-hardening an electrical system is presented by Tom Divine, PE Senior Engineer / Project Manager,  Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), Houston

Case study 2: Keeping it Flexible - Speculative Data Center Standby Power Design is presented by Scott Kesler, and Haroon Sheikh, Senior Electrical Engineer, Cannon Design, Chicago
